Exit Requirements and Graduation for Counseling Students

Exit Requirements

In addition to meeting program of study requirements, students will need to pass the Human Service Department's comprehensive exam to graduate. Students in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling, may submit a passing score from the National Counselor Examination (NCE) to the Graduate School and to the department, in lieu of the department's comprehensive examination.

Program areas may have additional exit requirements in addition to the examination and may include:

• A scholarly paper
• A research project
• A thesis

Comprehensive Examination Sign-up

• Complete pre-requisites:
  • Registered for last or second-to-last term of coursework
  • 3.0 G.P.A.
  • Approved program of study on file
  • Advisor written verification of remediation (only applicable if third administration of the examination)
• Register for the exam by emailing us at cehs-hs@wright.edu.

** A petition/appeal process exists for those not meeting the requirements as stated. Students with special needs are encouraged to contact the department for consideration of special arrangements.
