The aviation studies minor allows you to take your first step into the world of aviation. It provides you with the aviation education you need to become a professional pilot prepared to operate effectively within national and international airspace systems in the 21st century. The minor is designed to help you enter the aviation profession by earning your commercial pilot certificate, readying you for a concentrated number of entry-level positions in the aviation industry, including roles piloting single-engine aircraft. The aviation minor can be a great foundation for further aviation education and experience, opening more career opportunities.
As a graduate of this program, you can enter a career in law enforcement, corporate or charter operations, cargo and passenger airlines, government contractors, survey piloting, search-and-rescue operations, and more.

Requires:
Courses required for this minor may be eligible for federal financial aid if they also fulfill core, major, or elective requirements for your degree. This includes open electives, if needed to complete your degree.
Submit Major/Minor Change Request form online in WINGS. (Select the "Registration and Records" menu and then the "Major/Minor Change Request" option.)
Flight training in this program is provided by First Flight Aviation, an FAR-141 FAA-approved (certificate #CWBS055D) flight school located at Wright Brothers Airport in Dayton, OH—22 miles from Wright State. Flight instructors are Wright State faculty.
