The B.S. in Health Sciences is one of two new programs replacing Wright State's former Sports Science program. Health Sciences includes multiple concentrations and extensive student support, including the Center for Health Professions. Register now to secure your spot in this new program!

Concentration Areas 

Pre-Athletic Training concentration

If you want to pursue graduate education and careers in athletic training. 

Pre-Occupational Therapy concentration

If you want to pursue graduate education and careers in occupational therapy. 

Pre-Physician Assistant concentration

If you want to pursue graduate education and careers in physician assistantship. 

Pre-Physical Therapy concentration

If you want to pursue graduate education and careers in physical therapy. 

Pre-Sport and Rehabilitation Medicine concentration

If you want to pursue a medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) and a career as a physician or surgeon. 

Each concentration is designed to be as comprehensive as possible in terms of relevant graduate school prerequisites. However, you should review the specific requirements of graduate programs you intend to apply to, so your program of study can be adjusted as needed with help from your and faculty advisors.

Job Outlook 

The careers listed above are all expected to grow substantially in the near future, both in the state of Ohio and nationally. The expected increase in numbers of jobs over the next ten years ranges from 3% (MD/DO) to 28% (PA), with the other specialties in the 14-17% range. Overall, these numbers suggest growth much faster than the national average.

Allied Health Capstone Project

In this course, you integrate coursework, knowledge, skills, and experiential learning to demonstrate broad mastery of learning for career advancement. The course also emphasizes preparation for graduate school, including topics like finding the right school, specific graduate program requirements, applying to graduate school, resume writing, interviewing skills, and more.
