Prepare to help athletes perform at their highest potential through the Strength and Conditioning Undergraduate Certificate at Wright State. This specialized program combines the science of human performance with hands-on training experiences to equip you with the knowledge and practical skills needed to design safe and effective strength and conditioning programs for athletes of all levels.  Through coursework in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, nutrition and sport psychology, you will gain the expertise to improve strength, power, speed, endurance and overall athletic performance while promoting health and injury prevention. Graduates are also academically prepared to sit for relevant certification examinations, positioning them for careers in strength and conditioning, sports performance and related fields.

Program Outcomes

As a result of their learning experience, graduates of Strength and Conditioning Certificate program can:

  • Analyze and solve complex problems related to strength training and conditioning using interdisciplinary scientific principles from biology, chemistry and physics.
  • Design and implement comprehensive individualized training plans incorporating fitness assessments, identification of risk factors and promotion of health behaviors, in athletic settings.
  • Demonstrate leadership in group or one-on-one training settings aimed at promoting sustained athletic performance improvement and safety.
  • Critically evaluate ethical dilemmas in training contexts and apply culturally responsive solutions tailored to diverse populations of athletes.
  • Achieve professional credentials by passing a nationally accredited certification exam.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development by incorporating feedback and research to enhance performance, knowledge in the field and evidence-based practice.
